Brave campers are willingly spending a night in their tents on the side of a 1,700m cliff in the ‘most extreme campsite’ in the world.
Daring backpackers were allowed, for the first time, to pitch up along a narrow path which wraps its way around Laojun Mountain in Henan province, China.
According to organizer Xu Lei, it was 100 travelers who were given the opportunity to climb and sleep along the pathway on the mountain. It is said that the whole organisation of the cam pout was to get a better view of the sunrise.
"That area is on the back of the mountain with little wind and does not open to ordinary tourists. It is a relatively comfortable place for backpackers…The view of the sea of clouds started at 10 pm on Friday and continued till 5pm on Saturday," Lei added.
"It gave me an extraordinary experience. It looked like I was in the middle of the ocean. The cloud-shrouded mountain looked like a sailing boat."
Railing was placed along the pathway which was the only thing to protect the travelers from falling but this spot isn’t for those who fear height.
A number of tourists were lucky enough to participate in an early morning yoga session.
Tour guide Qu Wei said, "It was very thrilling to do yoga at an altitude of 2,000 meters.”
"The scenic spot is covered with Wi-Fi, which enables tourists to share their experience on social networking sites or apps."
